Are you involved in organisation design or organisation transformation?

Do you wonder about what shape your organisation should take?

Is it sometimes useful to think of organisations as forming an ecology?

And do you ever wonder what organisational possibilities are held in radically re-thinking the process of delivering outcomes through the medium of work?
About the masterclass
Ideally, organisational forms enable the tasks they perform to be achieved in ways that align with their purposes and the dynamics of their contexts. Often, however, these forms are locked in by history, convention, and the way power plays out at senior levels. This can lead to a frustrating mismatch between the espoused management processes and the reality of informal ways of working.

In this masterclass, we will explore what it means to shape an organisation to effectively and adaptively organise human activity while remaining attuned to shifting needs and maintaining a human-centered approach. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the implications for their own organisations and examine what this means for leadership.

We will then consider the implications of taking an ‘ecological’ view of organisations. This perspective may provide insights into future ways of working. We are living in times of rising inequality, diminishing resources, and geo-political unrest. How can institutions, individually and collectively use their power to engender a future that is resilient, fair and sustainable? What does this mean for leadership, governance, innovation and collaboration that goes beyond organisational boundaries?
This masterclass with Dr. Jean Boulton will be relevant to senior leaders and executives, change leaders and consultants interested in what it means to see organisations as processes rather than as fixed entities.
The masterclass zooms in on the following key themes:
Organisation mapping, transformation and design
The lifecycle of organisations
Organisations and institutions as forming ecologies
Governance beyond organisational boundaries
The masterclass is designed for:
  • People in orchestrating roles across organisations and networks
  • Senior leaders and executives concerned with organisational transformation and the future of work
  • Organisational consultants and facilitators
  • Those working for bodies interested in governance, sustainability and sector integration
This masterclass is particularly valuable if you are:
  • tasked with radically rethinking the shape of organisations and the way they inter-relate
  • concerned that the form of your organisation hinders effectiveness and impedes agility
  • responsible for establishing the structures of startups and new ventures, and helping them grow
  • establishing working relationships across organisations — policy, governance, learning
There will also be an opportunity to share ideas and experiences with peers concerning the future of organising work, governance and collaboration in a way that engenders resilience, and responds to the emerging needs of our time.
